Dragon*con 30 Challenge
Day 2: Year 1
In 2007, one of my best friends from high school told me about Dragon*con for the first time. He thought I would enjoy it.
So I rounded up my friend Mckenzie and we headed to Atlanta.
There was so many ups and down that first year.
I dressed as Zelda to go with my friends Jesse’s Link. It would have been epic.
No one told me that I would need my driver’s license. So after the MARTA trip to the convention from the GA Tech campus where we were staying, I had to go all the way back.
It was way too hot after that for my wig, so I became a redhead Zelda.
That didn’t go over well with other people.
But I did get to meet a lot of really cool people, like the build team from Mythbusters, James and Oliver Phelps, and a couple of people from Ghosthunters: Steve, Grant, and Tango.
In fact, I ended up ditching the Zelda costume and Mckenzie and I made up a pair of “Plot Bunnies.”
That went over amazing. Especially since it wasn’t even a real costume. We bought corsets and ears at the con and paired them with short skirts and undergarments.
And of course inspiration struck and we ended up planning out the following year’s costumes. Those were costumes that ended up showing us who we really were.
Saw this scrolling through the DC tags while waiting for Arrow to buffer. So I’m like, hey! I know her! Then I go to see who posted it and I’m like CRYSTAL WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME YOU GOT A TUMBLR YOU GOOF
Anyways. Found you :P
